Ingredients

  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 large egg brought to room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup cold butter diced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 package English toffee bits 10 oz or almond brickle chips (7.5 oz)
  • 1 can 14 oz sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a mixing bowl, combine the flour with the confectioners’ sugar and cut in the cubed butter until the mixture takes on a coarse, crumbly texture.
  • Press the prepared crust mixture evenly into a greased 13x9-inch baking dish and place in the oven for 15 minutes to pre-bake.
  • While the crust bakes, whisk together the egg, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Gently fold in the toffee bits and chopped pecans until evenly combined.
  • Once the crust has partially baked, remove it from the oven and evenly distribute the toffee-nut topping across the surface.
  • Return the pan to the oven and continue baking for 24 to 26 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and set.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely in the refrigerator until firm before slicing into squares.

Notes

Bars can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
