Ingredients

  • 2 envelopes 0.87 oz each chicken gravy mix (dry)
  • 3 to 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ cup water or chicken broth optional
  • 1 can 10.5 oz unsalted cream of chicken soup
  • Hot steamed rice for serving

Instructions

  • Place the chicken breasts into a 6-quart slow cooker and lightly season with salt and pepper if preferred. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy packets, and water or broth if using, until smooth. Pour the prepared mixture evenly over the chicken in the slow cooker. Secure the lid and cook on the LOW setting for 4 to 6 hours. Shortly before serving, use two forks to break the chicken into bite-sized chunks. Spoon the chicken and gravy over hot steamed rice and serve immediately.

Notes

Avoid preparing the gravy separately; use the dry mix directly. Do not dilute the soup—add it straight from the can. Chicken thighs or tenderloins may substitute for chicken breasts. Frozen chicken can be used, but expect to cook toward the longer end of the time range. Frozen vegetables can also be included. Opting for unsalted cream of chicken soup is recommended to better manage sodium levels.
