Total Time 20 minutes mins
- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 3 tablespoons chopped green onion
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese reserve 4 tablespoons
- 1 brick 8 ounces softened cream cheese
- 2 cloves garlic finely minced or grated
- 2 jalapeño peppers seeded and diced (retain seeds for extra heat if desired)
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1½ cups cooked bacon crumbled (reserve 4 tablespoons)
Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly coat a 24-cup mini muffin tin with cooking spray.
Nestle one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, ensuring they are pressed gently to form a cup. Mist the wrappers with additional cooking spray and pre-bake for 5 to 7 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
As the wrappers bake, combine the cream cheese, sour cream, garlic, diced jalapeños, green onion, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheddar cheese (reserving a portion of bacon and cheese for topping) in a medium bowl until fully incorporated.
Distribute the filling evenly among the pre-baked wonton shells, pressing lightly to settle the mixture. Top each filled cup with a sprinkling of the reserved bacon and cheese.
Return the filled cups to the oven and bake for another 4 to 5 minutes, until the wontons are golden and the cheese is melted.
Allow the cups to cool for 2 to 3 minutes before removing from the tin and serving.
Air Fryer Method
Lightly grease a 12-cup mini muffin tin and preheat the air fryer to 350°F.
Follow the same preparation steps, pre-baking the wonton cups for 2 to 3 minutes until lightly browned.
Fill each cup with the cheese mixture, top with the reserved bacon and cheese, and air fry for 3 to 4 minutes until golden and melty.
Repeat the process to complete 24 servings.
